It is with a mix of emotions that Auckland Badminton Association (ABA) announces the departure of a true badminton legend from our midst. After an incredible 26 years of dedicated service since September 1997, Jack Ngametua will be stepping down from his role as the stadium manager at the Auckland Badminton Stadium. This marks the end of an era, but also the beginning of a new chapter.
Throughout Jack's tenure, our badminton community has thrived during his tenure. As a "people's person", he had a tireless dedication, and unwavering commitment to the sport, which left an indelible mark on our stadium and the countless players who have graced the courts. He has fostered a welcoming and competitive environment that has made our stadium not just a facility, but a second home to many.
During Jack's time, we have witnessed remarkable growth and development. Countless tournaments, matches, and memories have been created within these walls. His ability to manage the complex logistics of organizing events, coordinating with players and coaches, and ensuring the smooth functioning of our facilities has been nothing short of exemplary.
We will miss the personal connections Jack has formed over the years. His warmth and kindness towards each individual who has walked through our doors have left an impact far beyond the confines of the court. Jack has also been an inspiration to us when he proved doctors wrong after being able to walk again.
As Jack embarks on this new journey, we express our heartfelt gratitude for his immeasurable contributions to our badminton community. Let us come together to celebrate Jack's legacy and bid him a fond farewell.
Jack's final day at work is Friday, 18th August. We invite all of you, the local community, to find some spare time this week in your schedule to catch up, say your goodbyes to Jack and honor his years of dedication.
You can find Jack in the control room upstairs or contact him at stadium@aklbadminton.com
Let's take this opportunity to express our gratitude, share memories and wish Jack the very best in all of his future endeavours.
The ABA team will be having a private farewell dinner with Jack, his close family relatives and friends.
Thank you Jack for your unwavering service. We appreciate the positive impact you have made for the sport and the people. Your legacy will continue to inspire us as we move forward.
