Read more about Amanda's background and her goals below:

Tell us about yourself, your roles and journey in sport.

  • My journey in sport started sixteen years ago when my three boys joined sports teams once they were in school. I quickly jumped in and became involved with managing teams and then volunteering for their clubs. This progressed to competition management and sports administration twelve years ago within Regional Sports Organisations.
  • My last role as School Engagement Manager at Auckland Cricket has nurtured my passion to provide the opportunities for players to experience all that sport has to offer- the validation and reward I have seen sport give my children is what I want everyone to have. Being active and involved is key to thriving and feeling our worth.

What is your vision for Auckland Badminton Association?

  • Community Sport is fundamental and where everyone begins their sporting journey. With the right start in sport, participants can create their own pathway and develop their love of the game.
  • I want to give our community the desire to get involved, try new things and make badminton great in Auckland.

What impact do you hope to make through your involvement in badminton?

  • I want to deliver fun, innovative programmes and competitions that cater to all our community needs. Through excellent delivery and supporting all involved, we can do anything together.
  • I’m excited to be part of one of the fastest growing sports in Auckland.

Please give a warm welcome to Amanda and do not be afraid to say hello if you see her at the venue!
