Focus on Sustained Success and Player Development for 2024/2025

Auckland Badminton Association (ABA) is committed to building a culture of sustained success through its representative programs, aiming to be the top-performing association at key national competitions, including the Wisden Cup, Slazenger Cup, and the New Zealand Junior Team Championships (NZJTC). A core focus is developing players to achieve Badminton New Zealand representation, while also supporting them in reaching their personal best.

Each year, the Wisden and Slazenger Cups are the priority for ABA’s senior program, and rising talents from the Under 17 and Under 19 squads are often given opportunities to transition into senior competition. These experiences provide valuable exposure and development as players advance in their badminton careers.

For juniors, the New Zealand Junior Team Championships (NZJTC) is the flagship event, and players between 10 and 18 are eligible to compete. ABA’s junior program is designed to foster a love of the game from an early age, with players starting in leading development programs that offer free rackets, expert coaching, and an environment focused on fun and learning.

ABA and Badminton New Zealand proudly support the Sport New Zealand ‘Balance is Better’ strategy, ensuring player well-being remains at the forefront of all programs.
