Auckland Badminton update: Initial 100-day work plan released.

Auckland Badminton is launching a structured 100-day work plan, a strategic approach widely used by organisations to set clear goals, drive momentum, and establish a strong foundation for future success. This framework allows us to prioritise key initiatives, create measurable impact, and ensure transparency in our operations. By focusing on specific projects in this initial period, we can build towards long-term improvements that benefit our entire badminton community.

Listening Tour
As a first step, our new General Manager, Hamish Meacheam will undertake a comprehensive listening tour, meeting with every Auckland Badminton club, and other key stakeholders. This initiative aims to foster open communication, gain insights into the unique operations of each club, and explore opportunities for collaboration and growth.

94th Annual General Meeting
Auckland Badminton’s 94th Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Wednesday, 26 February. This event provides an opportunity to reflect on the past year, discuss our strategic direction, and ensure transparent governance.

Constitution Review Working Group
Recognising the importance of maintaining a modern and legally robust governance framework, a Constitution Review Working Group will be formed. This group will focus on aligning Auckland Badminton’s constitution with the updated Incorporated Societies Act, ensuring compliance and best practice in organisational governance.

Website Refresh
We are refreshing our website to improve user experience with a modern design, streamlined navigation, and enhanced functionality. This update will make it easier to access key information and reflect our commitment to a more engaging and accessible online presence.

Rapid Review – Performance Structure
A performance structure review will benchmark Auckland Badminton’s athlete development pathways against national best practices. This will help identify short-term improvements to strengthen player development and ensure continued success at the highest levels.

Rapid Review – Events & Competitions
We will conduct a rapid review of events and competitions to assess resourcing challenges and identify opportunities for improvement. This will help enhance our 2025 badminton season and deliver high-quality events for the wider badminton community.

Facility Improvement Roadmap
Auckland Badminton will release a facility improvement roadmap, outlining a clear plan for prioritising and scheduling essential facility repairs and upgrades. This roadmap will serve as a medium-term guide to ensuring that Auckland Badminton’s infrastructure meets the needs of players, coaches, and the broader badminton community.

Selection of 2025 Representative Teams
The process of selecting Auckland Badminton’s 2025 representative teams will be a key milestone within this period. With a commitment to excellence and fairness, this selection process will ensure that Auckland fields competitive teams capable of achieving success at regional and national levels.

We Want Your Input!
As we embark on this journey, we value the insights and feedback of the Auckland Badminton community. Whether you’re a player, coach, club member, or supporter, your voice is important in shaping the future of badminton in our region.

Have ideas, feedback, or questions? We invite you to share your thoughts with us via email, at upcoming meetings, or during the Listening Tour. Your input will help ensure we prioritise the right initiatives and make meaningful improvements for everyone involved.

Looking Ahead

These initiatives set the stage for a stronger, more connected Auckland Badminton community. In May 2025, we will provide a progress report, highlighting achievements and outlining our next priorities.

We look forward to working together to enhance badminton in Auckland and appreciate the continued support of our clubs, players, and stakeholders.
