North Harbour Under 13 Open Recap

Over the weekend, our U13 players delivered a series of determined and hard-fought performances at the North Harbour Under 13 Open. While results didn’t translate into titles, the grit, effort, and promising development shown on the court were undeniable.

Tournament Results

In the Boys’ Singles, three of our players advanced to the quarter finals, each pushing their opponents to the limit in tightly contested three-set matches. Despite falling just short of the finals, these matches highlighted their resilience and fighting spirit.

Two pairs also reached the semifinals in boys' doubles. Much like the singles performances, both pairs narrowly missed out on progressing further, with their matches decided in three intense sets.

In the Girls’ Doubles, one of our players made a strong showing, advancing to the semifinals and demonstrating solid tactical understanding and on-court presence.

Reflections and Moving Forward

Being present at the event offered valuable insight into each player’s current level—both their strengths and areas for growth. Across the board, players showed commendable determination and discipline, laying a strong foundation for future progress.

As we look ahead, upcoming training sessions will prioritise:

  • Enhancing on-court movement to improve coverage and positioning

  • Building shot quality through strong, basic technique

  • Developing consistency, particularly in longer rallies where patience and control are key

Coach's Perspective

Senior Coach Zeck Li shared his thoughts following the tournament: "The players showed real heart out there — they fought hard in every match and didn’t back down, even when things got tough. At this age, it’s not just about results; it’s about learning and building the right habits. We’ll continue to focus on solid fundamentals, and I’m confident we’ll see even more growth from this group in the coming months."

We’re proud of all players who participated and are excited to support their progress throughout the season.
